CSS Div Builder App Reviews
Original and Efficient
This is a brilliant idea. I didnt even know some of the things were possible.
I like it how you can style ONE box and make the changes you want. It tells you what style is compatible with IE, etc. But for the moment it only allows for style one box a the time. Perhaps Im being too picky. I definetly like this app for the price.
This could be handy, but as it is, it just seems too limited. Some areas this could really shine would be to allow for the import of images for our background, and oh, maybe just have a way to set the background. Basically if I am feeling like pimpin a div to a point that I want a visual editor, I guess I want a strong visual editor. But you seem to be onto something because I really do think it would be awesome to have an app that makes a single div with all of the bells and whistles without lugging out some behemoth app. Its just that this app doesnt really provide much of an edge over hand coding for me. Oh, and totalling up the width of the box after everything is applied would be helpful too. I am guessing that this app is going to improve. I dont think its all that handy to me in its present form. Ill keep my eye on it for now.
I like the general idea of this app, and find it somewhat useful for tinkering with various CSS div settings. The improvements below would do a lot towards making this app truly useful. • the application window cannot be enlarged past 1920p x 1102p. This is frustrating and unecessarily limiting; • the array of tabs on the left might be improved with a collapsible accordion-style system. This would enable the user to collapse (i.e., hide) some settings while viewing more of the relevant settings all at once. (Currently, the app requires a great deal of clicking back and forth—which is frustrating when tinkering with competing and confusing settings.); • some fields dont allow for legitimate settings (e.g. its possible to use a negative number for the spread of a box shadow, but this app wont allow it); • on a related note, it would be nice to have the ability to edit the HTML and CSS directly (at least until the issue above is addressed); • some sections are simply misplaced (e.g. the Gradient settings section is inexplicably found under the "Text Color" tab) • "Dimensions" would be a more accurate descriptor for the "Box" tab; • the "Shadows" tab should be eliminated, the Text Shadow settings can go in the "Text" tab (currently "Text Color"), and the Box Shadow settings can go in the "Dimensions" tab (currently "Box") Making those changes would be a great start to improving an app that has some potential to be really useful (and really successful) if developed properly.
Very helpful
Im not a CSS pro -- this app has been a terrific learning and productivity tool for me.
Im not good with CSS and this program is just what I needed to help visually design elements. One suggestion: Id absolutely love to be able to paste an existing css element into the css source box instead of starting from scratch. I found the Presets handy for storing ones Ive built already in the program, but I often have to tweak existing styles.
Ive found this to be a super helpful refernce tool. I dont do CSS / HTML every day, so when I do, I often need to look up the specific css - for example if I want a font bigger, is that font-size or font? If I change its color is it font-color or color? These questions are easliy answered with this tool - I can set the properties on the bottom left side, and confirm the behavor on the bottom right, and then see the actual CSS on the top right. There have been other CSS tools in the past that are now defunct, and I find for $4 this has been a huge time saver over searching the interenet each time I do CSS work.
